Since 1566, when Andrea
Amati developed the modern violin in Cremona, the Bottege Liutarie
(stringed instrument workshops) of the city, have made it the world’s violin
capital, reaching an apogee with the instruments produced by Antonio
Stradivarius. As a highlight of our visit, we attend a recital on several of
these incomparable instruments. Furthermore, Claudio Monteverdi, the first
great opera composer, was born in Cremona in 1567 and we attend the following
2 concerts of the annual Monteverdi Festival: 22 May
